The department store photo counter is dead. A working film lab explains where to actually get film developed in Australia in 2026, and the one question to ask before handing over a roll.
What it costs in 2026
Numbers people rarely publish, so here are ours, straight off our price list:
| Service | Price per roll |
|---|---|
| Develop only (C-41 colour) | From $12 |
| Develop only (black & white $15, E-6 slide $16) | From $15 |
| Develop + standard scans | From $20 |
| Develop + high-res 35MP scans | From $28 |
| Develop + scan + a set of 4x6" prints | From $36.50 |
Chain pricing moves around and varies by store, so treat anything you read online (including this) as a starting point and confirm when you drop off. As a rule of thumb, anywhere in the high teens to mid twenties for develop-plus-scan is normal in 2026. Dramatically cheaper usually means scans only, no negatives, and now you know why that discount exists.
